Bimbadeen Heights Primary Schools is located within a residential area of Mooroolbark in the outer east of Melbourne. The enrolment of approximately 600 students is accommodated in 25 classrooms plus specialist areas. We have a staff of over 50 including several part time employees.
Bimbadeen Heights has an ethos where excellence is encouraged and diversity embraced. We aim to provide each child with the opportunity to develop to their full potential intellectually, socially and personally in an environment that reflects our school values of respect, compassion, resilience and integrity. We pride ourselves on achieving a calm and orderly learning environment with clear learning intentions and success criteria as part of each lesson.
The community works together to provide a challenging, success-orientated program for all students. Our strong parent-school partnership gives rise to a co-operative school culture based on a spirit of mutual respect. We provide effective student well-being programs that focus on student engagement, motivation and connectedness to school. Well-being is supported by a designated student well-being leader and a school chaplain who support children and families directly and through networks of specialist support.
Our commitment to continuous improvement in quality teaching and learning is reflected in teacher PD programs. An extensive variety of teaching skills is used to cater for the different learning styles of students. We maximize the learning potential of each student through extension and support programs catering for the full range of individual differences. Bimbadeen uses the Victorian Curriculum which is the Foundation to Year 10 curriculum that provides a single, coherent and comprehensive set of prescribed content and common achievement standards, which schools use to plan student learning programs, assess student progress and report to parents. Specialist programs are also offered in Music, Art, PE and LOTE (Chinese – Mandarin).
The school is committed to meeting the current and future needs of our students and in developing global citizenship. We have a particular commitment to ‘Asia Literacy’ and have a sister-school in Suzhou, China. To help students become responsible and safe ‘digital citizens’ we use the Digital Excellence 3 program to support ICT that is integrated into classroom practice via computers in each classroom, interactive white-boards. Smart LED TV screens and a school- wide computer network.
